SOAP-Lite 0.71 is available from CPAN at http://search.cpan.org/perldoc?SOAP%3A%3ALite.
0.71 is mainly a bug fix release - all users are encouraged to upgrade. The included Changes file lists the differences to previous versions.
0.71 will be the last release to run under perl 5.005 - we've decided to drop support for perls that old from the next release on. If you're using SOAP::Lite and haven't got a newer perl, you should consider upgrading now...

Any idea why SOAP::Lite does not install any more from the CPAN shell?
Running install for module SOAP::Lite
The module SOAP::Lite isn't available on CPAN.
Either the module has not yet been uploaded to CPAN, or it is
temporary unavailable. Please contact the author to find out
more about the status. Try 'i SOAP::Lite'.
This may be due to the fact that http://search.cpan.org/dist/SOAP-Lite/ still points to the old module, and that http://search.cpan.org/~mkutter/SOAP-Lite-0.71.04/ is considered an “ UNAUTHORIZED RELEASE” (sic).
Would be great to fix this, as it is currently breaking all modules depending on SOAP::Lite at any degree.

Some code I was successfully using for a Web Services application in a Redhat RHEL5 environment will no longer run. The problem seems to be that the current version of Perl (perl-5.8.8-15.el5_2.1) no longer supports weak references. Hence this error message:
"Weak references are not implemented in the version of perl at /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.8/SOAP/Lite.pm"
I'm at a bit of a loss as I don't know what weak references are. Can anyone tell me if there is any work-around for this? (apart from backing out to an older version of perl)...
